About Us

American Engineered Products (AEP) is a privately held company dedicated to providing the best quality telescoping flagpoles in today's market.

AEP's principle founder, Mike Wiese and his father Harold invented patented the first telescoping flagpole over 25 years ago. While Mike was pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering he and his father worked together to create an easy to use, durable flagpole that did not use ropes or pulleys to raise the flag. The flagpole used a spring and pin system to lock the pole in place and a solid swivel and top cap to allow the flag to follow the direction of the wind. After Harold patented the flagpole Uncommon USA acquired the manufacturing rights.

After 15 years of telescoping flagpoles being on the market with thousands sold, it became apparent to Mike that several areas needed improvement. He decided a totally redesign the flagpole. He felt there were 4 areas that needed improvement. The first area was the pin locking system. This system had several areas of weakness: the pin did not find the hole automatically; the pin could be hard to push; the pin would wear the tube into an oval and eventually not lock; and lastly, the pin system could fail and pop out. So the pin system was replaced by an internal locking system. This system is known as the Easy-lock because it is self-indexing and always finds its home, no searching for the pin hole in the dark!

The next major improvement was redesigning the bushings for better wear life. Over time the original bushing would wear out, especially in high winds. In the redesign the upper 1" bushing became a 6" long sleeve with molded metal hooks. this increases the wear life 6 times. the lower busing went from 3/16" to 2.50" or 13 times life increase.

The third area that needed attention was the swivel system. The original swivels were a solid part. This required you to dissemble the flagpole to replace the swivels. This is not a simple process. In order to make replacing your swivel easier , every swivel was split for easy removal with the top cap not having to be removed. This became the EZ-Off swivel system.

The final improvement was increasing the diameter of the tubing. Most commercial poles have aw 3.00" butt diameter tapering to 1.75" or 2.00" top diameter. A larger diameter will increase the strength of the pole and also improve the look of the pole. Increasing the strength of the pole and also improving the look of the flagpole. Increasing the butt diameter from 2.50" to 3.00" gave the pole 30% more strength and again, better curb appeal.

Throughout the years improvements have been made to the AEP telescoping flagpole. With our Estate line the 3.00" .065 wall was increased to an .080 wall thickness. The swivels are colored to matched your flagpole and we offer a Swivel for Life Program. If your swivel wears our let us notify us and we foe a small shipping and handling fee we will send you a new set.

American Engineered Products offers three style of flagpoles:

The Elite and Estate flagpoles come in three different sizes and colors including Silver, Bronze and White.

AEP is dedicated to continually improving the telescoping flagpole through innovation and technology. This will provide our customers with the best quality flagpole in today’s market.

American Engineered Products is the only telescoping flagpole with metal hooks. Why? Stronger metal hooks don’t break! AEP was the first to market the 3” diameter pole and heavy duty wall thickness. Our patented swivels are designed to allow ease in maintenance in replacement.
